I'm Nirmal Perera from Auckland. By day, I write code to build the digital world; any other free time I get, I capture the beauty of the real one. Back in Sri Lanka, I discovered a passion for photography in 8th grade. I desperately wanted to join the school photography club but I never had the means to turn my dream into reality. I stole moments with my uncle's 1995 Kodak point and shoot camera, burning through the film but always looking for the next occasion to capture.
Since making New Zealand home in 2015, I have been chasing breathtaking mountains, enchanting coastlines, and everything in between. Combining my love for hiking, I aspire to capture all this place has to offer. This collection is a reflection of those experiences. Each photograph captures a moment discovered through countless journeys, early mornings, changing seasons, and patiently waiting for the right light.
Together, these images celebrate the diversity, scale, and quiet beauty that make New Zealand unlike anywhere else.
