Emma Trembath

Emma Trembath

Emma is an Auckland-based environmental engineer and scientist. Their work explores the ordinary landscapes of cities through architecture, industrial sites, and changing urban environments. Working within the fields of remediation and redevelopment, they photograph places shaped by industry, transition, and memory, documenting the traces left behind as cities evolve. Their photographs of parked cars are part of that narrative.
Many were assembled in New Zealand factories during a period when manufacturing played a much larger role in shaping our towns, cities, and communities.
Like the buildings, factories, workshops, and streets they inhabit, they represent a connection to places, industries, and generations that are gradually disappearing.
