Janice Chan is a Hong Kong based designer and photographer from Hastings, whose practice spans photography, architecture and creative direction. Her work is playful and observational, balancing saturated colour and visual richness with a sense of simplicity and reduction. She is drawn to sunny days and the little details that make everyday life feel slightly detached from routine, finding beauty, humour and a sense of escape in the everyday.

Her exhibition HOLIDAY MOOD brings together photographs that explore the feeling of being away; less about being on holiday, and more about the moment when you have mentally clocked off and an ordinary day suddenly feels like a long, warm afternoon. Her photographs look for that feeling in familiar surroundings, finding a sense of escape in the everyday.

Presented inside a fish and chip shop, the exhibition brings this sun-drenched sensibility into a local setting.
