Kirsten Hough - Guest Exhibitor FOTOFEST'26
Kirsten Hough, of Wort & Flea, is a full-time professional pet photographer, based in the small rural town of Pokeno, in the Waikato, a destination location, specialising in both outdoor natural light and studio photography.
With a lifelong passion for animals and photography and following a diagnosis of aggressive breast cancer that had spread in 2016, it led Kirsten to finally pursue her dream of becoming a professional pet photographer. For the past seven years, Kirsten has held client sessions at home on the farm, offering her clients and their dogs an outdoor adventure experience like no other, where she captures their love and memories along the way, in beautiful scenic, bold and colourful, personality filled portraits.
Kirsten also has a purpose-built studio for those that prefer the indoors, or aren’t mobile enough for the farm walk, and enjoys photographing cats in studio as well. Creating either classic timeless fine art style portraits, or bold, colourful and modern portraits.
Whether it’s preserving memories for her clients to love for a lifetime or working with rescues to help their animals get adopted more quickly, being able to combine her two passion’s is nothing short of a dream. For her own creativity and when needing a change of scenery from the farm, Kirsten likes to travel to Queenstown and surrounds, or her favourite dog beach, Raglan.
An award winning, Accredited Professional Photographer, with Master Distinction, for the New Zealand Institute of Professional Photography and an Iris Awards Judge. As well as a Digital Imaging Advocate for Sony NZ, for whom she instructs in person and online photography workshops, and thoroughly enjoys sharing her knowledge and experience, giving back to the photography community.
Along with being a passionate and crazy dog and cat mum, to a menagerie of ten! Kirsten’s exhibition will feature an array of both her outdoor and studio works and she will be holding both a talk and workshop as well.
