Jan Maree BFA, MNZIPP, is a New Zealand artist, photographer and author based between Mangawhai and Tuakau. For almost twenty years, she has documented New Zealand’s wild Kaimanawa horses, exploring resilience, belonging, family and the enduring relationship between people, animals and the natural world.

Heart and Soul - The Exhibition presents ten framed photographs tracing the horses’ lives in the ranges, the annual muster and their transition into domestic homes. The exhibition will also feature Jan Maree’s recently published book, ‘Heart and Soul - A Kaimanawa Story’, and a selection of A4 photographic prints available for purchase.
