MAHINGA KAI — Our Living Whakapapa
We’re incredibly excited and humbled to be part of Fotofest Hawke’s Bay, exhibiting Mahinga Kai — Our Living Whakapapa at Waiaroha. This exhibition is a chance to introduce Kohuorangi Communications as a collective, and to share some of the mahi we’ve been privileged to be involved in here in Te Matau-a-Māui and throughout Aotearoa.
We get to capture so many kaupapa, stories, people and places through our mahi — but Mahinga Kai is a special one. It speaks to our connection to whenua, whānau, mātauranga and the places that continue to hold our whakapapa. We wanted to share this work with our wider community and celebrate the people who continue to carry these stories forward.
Behind the exhibition is our KOR collective:
Photography: Mohaka Hawkins
Curation, creativity & design: Samson Wainohu
Written words: Charlotte Boyt
Support from afar: Tiniwai Wainohu
Together, we are Kohuorangi Communications.
Ngā mihi nui to Fotofest Hawke’s Bay for the opportunity to be part of this year’s festival, and to everyone who has trusted us to capture and share their stories.
Mahinga kai. Mahinga kōrero. Mahinga whakapapa.
