Having returned to photography in the last couple of years, after a multi decade absence, I have dived back into shooting film predominantly. Somewhat like a kid in a sweet shop I have jumped from format to format with no definitive favourite having shot 35, 110, 120, 126, 127 and also way too much Polaroid for my bank balance! I have also been drawn to old cameras and expired film with this current project having been started on a 1929 Leica IA using expired Fuji Superior 100.
Outdoor Furniture.
While putting a test roll through an almost century old Leica that I had recently acquired I captured a couple of images of furniture that had been designed for the indoors but had now found its way outdoors. It made me think about how often people who no longer have a use for a particular item of furniture place it outside in the hope that someone else will take it away.
The belief that the item that is now well past its best will be spirited away thus saving the current owner the hassle of disposing of it. It most cases this does eventuate but in others the item sits out in the prevailing weather and as each day passes it looks more likely the owner will have to bite the bullet and dispose of it themselves.
These items do not tend to stay put for long thus the challenge once you spot one is to capture the image with whatever camera you have on you at the time and make best use of the light available. Its not often you can go back for a second attempt, I have tried many times only to be presented with an empty spot on the roadside!
Given that, most of these images are from a 2009 Lumix weatherproof digital point and shoot which I use as a daily carry. Its size and rugged construction make it ideal to shove into clothes pockets, a work bag or throw (literally) into a car and have it ready to hand when required.

There are other images taken on film using the Leica obviously and a Nikon FE. I am keen to increase the number of images taken with old cameras using expired film to match the expended furniture, but as noted above the odds are not always in your favour.
